I am attempting to add wired connectivity to my Wii U game console in order to reduce lag for online gaming. As some might not know, the console does not come with an ethernet port so I am looking for an USB adapter to attach to my home networks router.
For Christmas I received the J5Create USB2.0 Ethernet Adapter. I connected the device to my game console and router with the standard cat5 straight through cable and attempted to set up a wired connection in the console's menu options but it was not recognized at all (no error message of any kind, just a request to connect an adapter).
Looking online I see that many of the adapters that advertise as working with the Wii U console are label as 'LAN adapters' as opposed to Ethernet adapters. Is their a difference? I am aware of what a LAN network and an Ethernet cable are but I have not found any indication of it not being essentially the same thing
